While physicians have relied on CAT scans for years, more recently, Dentists have started to rely on 3-D imaging techniques to gain information and increase procedural safety. Our office has invested in this technology for you, as we can now gain more detailed views of the mouth and related structures. This entails taking many different radiographic images to generate cross-sections (slices) and 3-D views of focal structures. Cone Beam 3-D Imaging holds a distinct advantage, especially with surgical and implant procedures, in that all bone structure and density, tissues and nerves can be definitively and clearly viewed. Capturing these images takes far less than 1 minute, as this technology is geared toward dental implant and other oral surgical treatment. Cone Beam 3-D Imaging reduces the time and increases the safety pertaining to these procedures. Ultimately, this technology enhances the end result of dental surgical procedures and is becoming the standard of care for dental implant procedures.
If you have any questions or concerns about Cone Beam 3-D Imaging, please don't hesitate to discuss them with your Dentist in the office or call Dental Arts of Boynton Beach at (561) 767-9595.
